Shilpa Shettys husband Raj Kundra says he considered ending things after being jailed in po

RAJ Kundra has opened up about his time behind bars for the first time since leaving jail over a high-profile pornography case.

In a recent interview, the 45-year-old revealed he'd considered "ending things" during the intense scandal and the 63 days he was locked up for.

Kundra also shared how his wife, the renowned Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, floated the idea of leaving India and starting a new life together abroad.

He started the devastating interview saying: "I had really broken down, enough to probably end things inside.

"There was so much humiliation, reputational damage.

“Because of me, media went behind my wife, children and parents. That was painful.”

Kundra went on to tell Indianexpress.com that he got through the gruelling period by thinking about the outside world and reminding himself that this was just a bad time in his life.

Also adding that one day he knows the real facts will come out and show the world what really happened.

Kundra was sent to jail earlier this year after allegedly luring a woman into making a porn film with the promise of an acting job.

According to reports he was described by cops in India as the "key conspirator" in a porn production ring that infested Mumbai.

The tell-all interview continued with Kundra revealing his wife Shetty was only allowed to call him once a week.

The pair mainly spoke through letters in what the controversial star noted was his biggest support network.

According to Kundra, she would tell him: "Raj, this is the situation, it has been over-amplified, we need to be careful with every decision we take, just have faith in me."

In the open and candid chats between the two lovers Shetty would even go as far as floating the idea of them fleeing India.

She said: "Raj you left everything in London, you were born and brought up there, you moved here because I wanted to be here.

“But if you want, I can make things work and let’s leave the country, let’s go abroad.”

Even with his wife’s full support Kundra knew he had to stay in India and fight to clear his name.

He said: "People do big crimes, take thousands of crores and leave the country, but I have done nothing so I won’t leave the country.”

In 2021, Kundra was arrested at his residence by Mumbai Police Department, along with 12 others.

After strongly denying any wrongdoing throughout the scandal Kundra was stuck in police custody for just over two months in Arthur Jail.

DNA reports apparently showed that he was involved in the creation and publishing of pornographic content but nothing has been proved since.

In September 2023, Kundra posted on social media again for the first time since his release to celebrate  Ganesh Chaturthi

Alongside a video of him and his wife he posted a caption with a powerful line for his haters.

The caption said: “Jai Shree Ganesh. He’s BACK! Well wishers, your love makes me strong. Haters, your hate makes me unstoppable.

“Karma is efficient and I am just being patient.”

Ever since his arrest Kundra has maintained a low profile and has always worn a mask when out in public.

He explained he did it to avoid getting papped by the media who hurt his image when he was accused.

You're not alone

SUICIDE is the 10th leading cause of death in the US, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Leading Causes of Death Report from 2018.

There were "more than two and half times as many suicides" in the US than there were homicides, according to the report.

For people ages 10 and 34, suicide was the "second leading cause of death" and the fourth for individuals ages 35 to 54.

Suicide is a vital health concern in the U.S. It affects all genders, races and ages.

This is why The-Sun.com launched the You're Not Alone campaign.

The campaign calls on readers to discuss their mental health issues with their family, friends and health professionals. We can all pitch in to help out others who may be suffering and help save lives.
