Jeopardy! champ Julia Markham Cameron returns for big win after 'unexpected' fan praise for her q

A JEOPARDY! contestant has won Monday's episode while stealing the spotlight with her animated expressions.

Julia Marham Cameron- who went viral in 2021 for her facial reactions - emerged victorious against competitors Kristen Thomas-McGill and Finn Corrigan.

In the Champions Wildcard game featuring former brief winners Cameron defied the typically composed demeanor of Jeopardy! contestants.

The Brooklyn-born lawyer showcased a hilarious lack of restraint, rolling her eyes and delivering a series of meme-worthy facial expressions in response to clues.

Audible exclamations like "I get it!" and "Oh no!" added to the entertainment, stealing the show.

During her interview with Ken Jennings, Cameron shared an amusing anecdote about a moshpit rib injury at a concert, a story she had previously told Mayim Bialik during her initial run.

"I told a story about how I was at a concert and I hurt my rib in the moshpit and had to crowdsurf out. Which is rad.

"But what was not rad is Mayim asked me what the band was and I totally blanked on it.

“So now Twitter thinks I was lying, which I wasn't!”

JEOPARDY! FANS REACT TO JULIA'S FACES

The wave of fan admiration for Cameron reached new heights as she secured victory in the comeback contest, earning a spot in the semifinals.

Social media erupted with praise, with one X (formerly Twitter) user expressing: “I was hoping for Julia to win. She's fun.”

Another chimed in: “I love Julia, so glad we get to see more of her!”

A third fan was more critical and wrote: "Okay she's already too much. #jeopardy"

A fourth fan suggested a dream match: "I would love to see Julia in a match with Lisa Sriken. Both are so expressive and funny. And they're both lawyers from NYC. I share Julia's disdain for math categories."

A fifth wrote: "I loved the snipe at Twitter she made during her interview today, lol. Queens of the Stone Age is great too.

However, others also approved and penned: "She's so cute" and: "Yass queen Julia!"

JULIA EMBRACES 'THE FACES SHE MAKES'

The two-time champion from 2021 had previously gone viral for her distinctive persona during her initial run.

Reflecting on her unexpected online fame, she told Reuters: “It’s certainly not what I thought I would be known for at this stage of my career.

"But I'm happy that people are having fun with it and responding the way that they do.

"It’s so funny reading all the comments about the faces I make and the expressions I make because I’ve always had one of these Jim Carrey faces where I just pull these expressions and I don't even know it.

But it’s authentic to me!”

The Final Jeopardy round focused on "20th CENTURY NOVELS."

The clue read: "The Atlanta History Center says this novel was 'both beloved & condemned almost from the moment of its publication' in 1936," which Cameron and Kristen correctly identified as "Gone With The Wind."

As Julia clinched an additional $7,000, she covered her face in disbelief capping off a not-to-be-missed appearance with a total of $19,600.

TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS APPROACHES

Champions Wildcard - which features past players from Season 37 or Season 38 getting a second shot at glory - all concludes on December 18.

After months of placeholder programming due to Hollywood strikes, with players (and questions) from years' past, the eagerly awaited 2023 Tournament of Champions Season will finally kick off on December 19.

This three-tiered event starts with the Season 39 Second Chance Tournament, featuring 18 of last year's most snubbed non-winners.

The two champions from this two-week event will then advance to a Season 39 Champions Wildcard, competing against last year's standout brief winners.

Finally, the grand spectacle, the Tournament of Champions, will commence.

Fan favorites like Ben ChanHannah Wilson, and Cris Pannullo will battle it out for the coveted $250,000 prize.

The four overall winners of the now-airing Season 37/Season 38 Champions Wildcard will also be competing.

Notably, the previous Tournament of Champions was clinched by the ever-impressive Amy Schneider.
