VENEERS have become a popular dentistry treatment which see tooth-coloured shells attached to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance.
They are often viewed as a cosmetic procedure, and can be used to treat a number of different concerns, including chipped, broken, discoloured, or smaller-than-average teeth.

They can either be permanent or clip-on, which go on top of your natural teeth and can be removed at your leisure.
What are veneers?
Veneers are a predominately cosmetic procedure used by dentists to improve the look of your teeth, getting rid of chips, stains or misaligned teeth.
While veneers weren't designed to be a permanent fix, they can now be designed to be a long term solution and can last up to 25 years.
They are made of porcelain and cover only the front surface of the tooth - they will mimic the size, shape and colour of your teeth.
How long do veneers last?
According to Revitalise Dental Centre, the permanent style of veneers are expected to last between 10 to 15 years.
They say: "You will need to look after them the same way you would with your natural teeth, with one exception.
"It’s important to use non-abrasive toothpaste as this can damage the veneers. You should continue to brush your teeth twice a day, including daily flossing."
They also advise regular checkups with a dentist and hygienist to ensure everything is in order.
How much do veneers cost?
The price of veneers will vary based on your location, your dentist and the number of teeth you want restored.
But they definitely don't come cheap.
According to Smile Works, porcelain veneers are £650-1000 per tooth and last 10-25 years.
They say that porcelain veneers "require two or three visits and expensive lab-work" before they are ready.
How long do clip-on veneers last?
Clip on veneers are an alternative to traditional, permanent veneers and they can be worn at the wearer’s leisure.
They are far cheaper than regular veneers and don’t involve filing down the teeth to be attached.
Clip on veneers should last for as long as the wearer looks after them.
If looked after users should get a minimum of a year’s wear out of them but, with proper care, they are likely to last several years.

Can you eat with clip-on veneers on?
It is not advised to eat with the veneers on, and it may feel hard to at first.
Users may get used to the sensation and find they are able to eat some foods with the clip-ons attached – but this may affect the longevity of the veneers.
If you eat and drink with the veneers in, food and drink may get trapped between the teeth and the veneer - which could eventually lead to decay if the veneers are worn full time.
If you eat with them in, extra care should always be taken when brushing your teeth, and the veneers, afterwards.
